Its the kind of cough that feels like the silverware drawer slamming deep in your chest. I cough and I cough and I cough. All the while sounding like a baseball bat massacre in the seal cage at SeaWorld. After a few minutes, the lungs finally give up their #00FF00 jewel and the process repeats.
I have gone through an entire box of DayQuil. I can only take them one at a time though or I feel a little loopy. I need more sleep but when I do sleep I have strange dreams. The kind that usually include an urgent feeling that you absolutely must do something about the boy band playing with the kitten in your bathroom. (That didn't make sense? Exactly.)
I felt yesterday evening that I had rounded the bend and was heading toward the end of the cough. This was not the case. I awoke this morning worse than before. I worked from home yesterday but I don't have that luxury today. So here I am, at my desk, drinking an iced cappuccino and wishing a disgruntled former employee would come in here and put me out of my misery, or at least give me a reason to go home.
